An anonymous reader writes "There's a persistent bias against older programmers in the software development industry, but do the claims against older developers' hold up? A new paper looks at reputation on StackOverflow, and finds that reputation grows as developers get older. Older developers know about a wider variety of technologies. All ages seem to be equally knowledgeable about most recent programming technologies. Two exceptions: older developers have the edge when it comes to iOS and Windows Phone." http://a.fsdn.com/sd/twitter_icon_large.png (http://twitter.com/home?status=Can+Older+Software+Developers+Still+Le arn+New+Tricks%3F+%3A+http%3A%2F%2Fbit.ly%2FZZwVRO ) http://a.fsdn.com/sd/facebook_icon_large.png (http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fdevelopers.slashdot.org% 2Fstory%2F13%2F04%2F29%2F203205%2Fcan-older-software-developers-still-learn-new-tricks%3Futm_source%3Dslashdot%26utm_medium%3Dface book) http://www.gstatic.com/images/icons/gplus-16.png (http://plus.google.com/share?url=http://developers.slashdot.org/story/13/04/29/203205/can-older-software-developers-still-learn-new-tricks?utm_source=slashdot&utm_medium=googleplus)
